Particle Bloom
Watch Particle Bloom live in the browser
Thirty-two glowing particles on a dark background, each with a bright core and a soft halo, looping on slightly different orbits around the centre. Their colours spread across the rainbow from the inner to the outer orbits and slowly cycle.
Each particle belongs to one band of the spectrum: low frequencies circle close to the centre and high frequencies further out. Because each orbit uses slightly different speeds for its horizontal and vertical motion, the paths are Lissajous-like loops rather than circles, so the particles weave past one another.
What it reacts to
- Spectrum: each particle swings wider, grows and glows brighter with its own band
- Bass: all particles grow at once
- Mids: the orbits stretch taller
Music that suits it
Melodic music with a full spread of frequencies, such as electronic pop or funk, keeps both the inner and outer particles busy.
