Prismatic Equalizer
Watch Prismatic Equalizer live in the browser
A segmented equaliser in the style of LED meters: 38 columns of stacked blocks rise from a centre line, with a dimmer reflection below. The bass sits in the middle columns and higher frequencies spread out toward both edges, so the shape is symmetric from left to right.
The colours come from a smooth B-spline rainbow that slides slowly across the columns, so the display keeps moving through the hues even on a steady note. Glowing caps mark the top of each bar and of its reflection, and a faint line traces the centre.
What it reacts to
- Spectrum: sets the height of each column, bass in the middle, treble at the edges
- Bass pulses: lift the central columns
- Treble pulses: shift the colours and brighten the glowing caps
Music that suits it
Bass-forward pop, hip-hop or EDM keeps the centre columns busy, and tracks with bright cymbals light up the outer ones.
