Wild

A frame of the Wild preset in Deus.

A kaleidoscope of 3D fractal structure, laid over a coloured nebula and a geometric mandala, cuts abruptly from one look to another: new shape, new symmetry, new palette, new image filter. Between cuts the forms evolve slowly; at each cut everything is drawn again from scratch.

Every switch picks one of five fractal families (a Mandelbox, a Sierpinski tetrahedron, a twisted octahedron fold, a Menger sponge or an Apollonian gasket), a kaleidoscope with three to nineteen sides, one of eight palette schemes and one of seven filters such as posterize, scanlines or solarize. The switches run on a clock driven by loudness, so at the default setting a fully loud track changes look about every two seconds, and quieter music changes it less often.

What it reacts to

  • Loudness: sets how often the whole look changes and how fast the forms evolve between changes
  • Bass hits and treble hits: the image shivers slightly
  • Loudness and bass: brighten the whole frame

Tune

Shape switch frequency sets how many times per second the look changes at full loudness, from 0.1 to 10.

Music that suits it

Loud, dense music that stays at full energy, such as hardstyle, gabber or big-room electronic, keeps the cuts coming fast; quieter music lets each look last longer.

How to play it

Install Deus, play music on Spotify, YouTube Music, Yandex Music or any other tab and click the Deus icon on that tab. Then pick Wild in the WebGL presets, or press ← → on the page until it comes up.
